Canon launch their fastest digital press to date

10 September 2015

This latter half of 2015 is important for Canon.  Canon Expo 2015 is being held in New York, and they only run such a huge event of their own every five years.  It is just the event to launch a new range of digital color presses, including the flagship imagePRESS C10000VP, which is Canon's fastest digital color press to date.  It runs at 100 pages per minute, regardless of the weight and is intended to deliver a maximum monthly volume of 1.5 million pages.

Canon are highlighting the range's image quality: 2400 x 2400 dpi from a 32-beam VCSEL laser, new development units for better image stability and fine CV (Constantly Vivid) toner particles.  Other innovations around paper handling within the print engine, including a second transfer belt. On the productivity side, a second fuser unit which kicks in from 150 gsm up keeps the speed constant for all weights up to 350 gsm.  The press also includes an on-line spectrophotometer for color calibration.
With an 80 ppm version also available, this digital press range will premiere in Europe at the Canon Europe Expo being held next month in Paris from 13 to 15 October.
These digital presses fill a void that existed in the Canon range, facing up to the Konica Minolta bizhub Press C1100, the Ricoh C9100 or the Xerox Versant 2100. These are all inexorably reducing offset volumes, and this is why the big manufacturers are in a race to innovate in this segment of the color production market.  The demand for short runs and personalized marketing are the main drivers of growth in this segment.
