Xerox extends its EA toner plant in Rochester (USA)

01 June 2015

On May 26, Xerox opened an extension of its emulsion aggregation toner production plant in Rochester NY (USA).  This project, costing nearly $ 35 million (€ 31 million) is intended to increase production capacity of this type of toner by 40% to support the increasing needs for this "raw material" of digital printing.

According to InfoTrends digital production "toner" color pages will grow annually by 6.2% up to 2018.  It is a fact that on average a certain volume of color pages will consume more toner than the same number of monochrome pages, since color documents tend to be of a different nature and include photos and colored areas - thus using more toner.
This expansion has meant the plant has increased in size by about a half to 14,400 m², 155,000 square feet; the equipment to manufacture the toner has cost some $ 26 million (approximately EUR 23.7 million).
