Toshiba gets Mopria certification for latest touch-screen MFPs

07 May 2015

The Mopria Alliance was set up in September 2013 to develop and promote a standard for mobile printing - which has turned out to be an equivalent to Apple AirPrint protocol for Android - which represented 62% (in March 2015) of mobile operating systems visiting the sites analyzed by the StatCounter tool (against 23% for iOS).  For both, the idea is to print natively without having to download anything - from a web browser, the mobile version of MS Office, PDF readers, photographs and so on.
Android 4.4 KitKat is required.
The four founders of the alliance have been joined by a dozen others, and Toshiba joined the consortium in September 2014.  Toshiba America Business Solutions' (TABS) announcement of May 5 embodies the manufacturer's commitment to for mobile printing, an imperative given the changing patterns of work.
