Xerox have just launched three new Xerox software Solutions, and announce they are adding two third-party products to their catalogue.
The three new Xerox Solutions are aimed at reducing print costs. Xerox have been the first to address the apparent irony in this strategy, and are highlighting that these three new products are aimed directly at their print customers: they are intended to help these very businesses to work more intelligently and effectively.
Xerox Digital Alternatives
This is a relatively simple document management system. The key aims are to allow users to read, annotate - even to sign - digital documents, and then to share them. However the tool palette provides some useful functions for everyday business use. For example, it retains the point you were reading to, opening the document where you had got to; and if you highlight or otherwise annotate a document, these marks are synchronized across the user's various interfaces.
This Solution is available for PC and iOS7 devices. Xerox say it is BYOD-able, but the document security is based on MS LDAP.
Xerox ePublishing services
An addition to Xerox' Centralized Print Services, this is aimed at print rooms and Xerox' large base of marketing customers and marketing service providers. ePublishing provides the means to tap into existing production workflows, and take content hitherto only printed and deliver it in formats ready for wider and cheaper distribution in electronic formats.
Xerox Print Awareness Tool
Made in Xerox Europe, the Print Awareness Tool presents office print users with an interface akin to a game. With real-time printing usage and cost data presented to users, the aim of the game is to waste less. The game "fun factor" motivates users to compete against each other in this worthy cause.
Xerox have also announced this week that they are to include two new third-party Solutions in their catalogue.
Hyland's Onbase, a document management system with an impressive pedigree and world renown, delivers workflow automation and electronic content management (see Your DMO Solutions and news passim for more details).
DataWatch have entered into a partnership with Xerox. DataWatch is aimed at reducing print and errors in retail supply-chain networks. It interprets large volumes of commercial data from existing transactions and feeds, presents it in graphical formats, and provides a decision-making platform.
