We were delighted to be invited to see the much-heralded launch of Epson’s new partnership.

 

The event was hosted by Epson EMEAR’s Director of Marketing, Maria Eagling.

 

Epson have been building up this event, with glimpses of the new “ambassador for Europe,” promising us “one of the most recognizable and popular icons in the world.”  

 

And we were not disappointed!  Winner of eleven World Championship titles and eight Olympic Gold Medals, Usain Bolt personifies both Cool and Speed, exactly what Epson want to convey for the heat-free PrecisionCore inkjet process inside their EcoTank machines.  

 

 

Maria also reminded us of the partnership Epson announced last May with National Geographic magazine.  

 

President of Epson Europe, Yoshiro Nagafusa, was clearly delighted with the announcement.  “Usain is the perfect partner for us! He is one of the most recognizable people in the world and his riveting character will bring out the low cost printing solutions in a fun, memorable and impressive way."

 

A new range of EcoTank machines will be disrupting the market in time for Christmas.  Spoiler Alert!  Usain will be dressed as Santa on TV adverts this year.  Plus, with Epson’s good track record in pandemic-busting logistics, you will actually be able to buy an EcoTank, even in the UK.

 

Usain Bolt was kind enough to provide answers to questions from the floor.  We learned a lot.  Growing up in Trelawny in rural Jamaica, his first love was cricket.  It is this background which has given direction to his Usain Bolt Foundation, to which Epson is now a substantial contributor.  “The Usain Bolt Foundation is dedicated to the legacy for happy children; to enhance the character of children through educational and cultural development, as they live their dreams.”  You can read all about it here.
