Xerox launches the DocuColor 8080 digital press

24 August 2011

The DocuColor 8080 is set to replace the Xerox DocuColor 7002 and 8002, running at 80 ppm in both color and monochrome.

But apart from the sheer speed, it is the productivity applications that the manufacturer is highlighting.  These allow pre-press and document customization operations to be simplified.

A significant new feature of this production press compared to earlier models is the availability of color management tools linked to the on-line spectrophotometer.  This allows color data to be read directly inside the machine.  The various techniques are grouped as the Automated Color Quality Suite (ACQS) and ensure precise color reproduction.

Lastly, this digital press uses low-gloss toner.  The mat result which is achieved, closer to that of off-set, improves the quality of color images, including dark and light areas.

The DocuColor 8080 is available with three different print servers (Xerox FreeFlow Print Server, EFI Fiery® or CREO) and with multipple finishing options 5Xerox, but also GBC or Standard Horizon).
