This straightforward but fully featured app is the brand's tailored version of Scanshare Capture.

Version 5 has a new interface and several additional features to make it future-ready.

Document Navigator V5 supports multi-tenancy. This means that one instance of the Document Navigator software running on a server somewhere can provide Document Navigator to work stations and mobile devices at multiple locations with no need for virtualization nor to install and manage different instances of Document Navigator in different locations. For IT teams this is easier and cheaper - and it opens up the way to the cloud.

Both simple and Server editions have a capture client for the paper-bound document capture component which can be installed on a wide variety of compatible MFPs.

Document Navigator runs on the copier interface, runs the scan process and authenticated users can add indexing information at the moment of scanning, informing the process and store steps.

Both versions can monitor "hot" SMB folders too (for documents from other sources, e.g. Office apps or non-compatible scanner output), and Workflows which have been designed in Document Navigator can run automatically from hot folder input, or can be based on scanned (OCR'd) content or from MFP interface input - or on elements of both.

The basic edition does not provide a desktop install. Workflows are set up on the server-based admin console. There is a web-based client for this.

Document Navigator can run on a PC, but is happier on a server for larger installations. It can make the most of an LDAP office environment for managing user authentication and folder rights either for individuals or groups of users.

Whilst this is the entry-level product, it has the essential features: MFP client, LDAP user authentication, barcode recognition, zonal OCR, some connectors including the SharePoint 365 connector, and data export functions. Document Navigator provides a relatively cheap means to implement an MFP-based document capture, indexing and storage process for an organisation.

Attractively priced, the basic edition comes with a license to run from one MFP.
