DataMaster Lab gives the HP LaserJet Managed Flow MFP E877z series full 5 stars
07 March 2023
HP France provided us with both a LaserJet Managed Flow MFP E87740z and a LaserJet Managed MFP E87740dn, both with external finishing units. The "z" machine has the 300 ipm, 300-sheet capacity document feeder, and the OCR option.
We have tested them thoroughly in our independent lab here in Rennes.
The DataMaster Lab test suite tests machine productivity, quality and usability. Our scan tests include image quality versus file size, analyses of image quality after file compression and OCR performance.
The test results are all available to subscribers to our DataMaster Online sales-enablement service, and are summarized in this chart. The DMO radar chart lets our subscribers compare different machines across all 9 axes.
These latest HP SRA3 copiers gave excellent results across all 9 axes with no particular weakness, the criteria for getting the full five stars.
Full five stars go to the:
- HP LaserJet Managed Flow MFP E87740z
- HP LaserJet Managed Flow MFP E87750z
- HP LaserJet Managed Flow MFP E87760z
- HP LaserJet Managed Flow MFP E87770z
The other machines in the series scanner is still quite fast at 90/180 ipm, but do not have onboard OCR. They are great machines, sharing most of the strengths of the "z" versions.
4.5/5 stars go to the:
- HP LaserJet Managed MFP E87740dn
- HP LaserJet Managed MFP E87750dn
- HP LaserJet Managed MFP E87760dn
- HP LaserJet Managed MFP E87770dn
4.5/5 stars is still a very high score from DataMaster Lab! Unlike some, we do not get paid to test not to publish our certificates. Our business model is that we are 100% focussed on our DMO subscribers.
Our test team's comments were:
Both the dn and z versions are highly productive machines: slightly faster in duplex than in simplex; good simultaneity when multi-tasking, and gave good results in workgroup tests.
Both have the fastest onboard file compression that we have seen in these market segments, and worth noting that image quality fares better in compression than it does on many competing machines.
"Z" versions: An extremely fast feeder (tested at up to 300 ipm) with a very high capacity (300 sheets of normal paper).
Both dn and z machines are easy to use with features we appreciate:
Driver presets are easy to manage
Finishing setup is clean and easy
Interface and driver setups do not reset at each use, though prompts help to avoid mistakes
Print quality is very good. Solids and gradients are exceptional, for office machines, and resolution on photographs is very good too.
"Z" versions: OCR to rich text format proves just as useful as output to .docx - and the .rtf files resemble the original documents better than many competing machines' .docx output.
The whole range have a full machine webpage, including a control panel snapshot and the means to update the firmware of the machine.
You can download the Certificates and Rosettes below, and use them in your sales and marketing!
