Konica Minolta launches two all-new high-speed digital color presses

30 October 2019

Konica Minolta chose the PRINTING United exhibition in Dallas, Texas to reveal the all-new AccurioPress C14000 series.

The brand has coined the phrase "digital print factory" for their new systems.  They are intended to reduce human touchpoints, increase print speed and reduce machine downtime - which all combine to increase productivity.  The new machines also deliver even higher print resolution, and the Konica Minolta inline quality control system has been enhanced.  What's more, they can handle even thicker stocks, and there are new finishing options.

While the 140 ppm AccurioPress C14000 and 120 ppm AccurioPress C12000 do build on the AccurioPress C6100, they push the brand into new territory.  Large-scale print operations with an eye on total costs of ownership will like these new machines' duty cycle of 2.5 million, up from the AccurioPress C6100's 1.8 million.  Their toner capacity is also double that of earlier models.

With improved TCO, improved quality and improved productivity, these new digital presses sit well in Konica Minolta's production printing catalog with the AccurioJet KM-1 B2 sheetfed inkjet press, WEBJet 200/100D, AccurioLabel 230 label press and the MGI range digital embellishment products.

Creating new business opportunities for printers

As well as improving business efficiency with enhanced productivity, the AccurioPress C14000 series can help printers to grow their businesses by allowing them to expand their print product ranges.  The print engine has been improved to deliver better quality onto textured paper.  The new machines can handle media up to 450 gsm (167 lb Cover), print onto both sides of banners up to 35” / 900 mm and onto simplex banners up to 51” / 1300 mm long.

Quality Optimization and Production Efficiency

Interpolated resolution is stated to be equivalent to 3600×2400 dpi, where the C6100 only manages 3600x1200 dpi.  This increased resolution helps in quality assurance too.  It allows Konica Minolta’s enhanced IQ-501 Intelligent Quality Optimizer to correct smaller registration issues in both dimensions.  This system provides much more inspection during the run.  It can now detect streaks and spots as well as blemishes.
The risk of operator error in media handling is reduced by an automatic media detection sensor which is standard across the range.
New finishers include the TU-510 Versatile Trimmer Unit, an inline, four-edge trimmer and creaser that means the machines can produce full-bleed finish for banners, booklets and mailouts.  There is also a dedicated business card cutting option. The LS-507 Large Stacker gives a banner bypass and means operators can offload while the machine is still running. Color management and job management is done on Konica Minolta’s own controller which has a customizable operation screen - but there are third-party controller options including the latest Fiery and Creo models.

We await full specifications from the manufacturer - but the new machines' full specs and sales arguments will be available to subscribers on DataMaster Online very soon!
